The Podiatry Foundation of Pittsburgh promotes foot health and care and the advancement of the profession of podiatry. We fulfill our mission through a number of initiatives.
The Foundation funds work by podiatrists through health care clinics and health events in the community. We actively pursue opportunities to partner with health care organizations that provide free or low-cost podiatric health care to the public. Our purpose is to facilitate the administration of critical podiatric care, for example the care of diabetics, in situations where it would otherwise not occur.
Each year the Foundation receives and reviews applications for scholarships from area podiatry students. Over one million dollars in scholarships have already been awarded. Scholarships are available annually to students in podiatry school whom are from the Western Pennsylvania area. There are scholarships available for each of the four years of podiatry school.
The Foundation sponsors both professional and community events related to the education and promotion of podiatric health care. This includes Ongoing Education Programs for practicing podiatrists which fulfill their professional requirements for continuing education. These Foundation-sponsored events are the only such events in Western Pennsylvania.
Any worthwhile community event promoting foot health and care may apply for a sponsorship.
In a joint program with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the Foundation promotes an annual manuscript competition. This process promotes the publication of research papers by podiatrists from around the world.
